Neuropathy can be caused by a number of things, and in some cases, the true underlying cause is not able to even be identified. It is commonly caused by autoimmune conditions, alcoholism and poor diet, certain medications, and vitamin deficiencies.
But the most COMMON cause of Neuropathy is Diabetes. Why? As Diabetes and high blood sugar typically go hand in hand, damage is eventually caused to the nerves, resulting in peripheral Neuropathy. Additionally, Diabetes can cause damage to the kidneys. Kidney disease also can contribute to damaged nerves due to increased toxins within the blood.
